One of the newest members of Focus on the Lindy, Sarah Sharifi is
celebrating her 3rd year as a Lindy hopper. With a background in
classical ballet, she was eager to get back into the dance scene
after many years of respite.
The transition of moving to Colorado Springs from her Indiana home
was eased by the discovery of the swing scene. In fact, it was
there that she met her husband, Beaux, in the Spring of 2003. He
had her at the first "rock step." Together they have taken up the
hobby of swing dancing and have traveled to such places as Portland,
OR and Pasadena, CA to dance. Recently, she has taught swing dancing
with Beaux in Malaga, Spain.
She plans on taking her dancing to the next level as soon as she
graduates from graduate school. She'll earn her Master's degree in
Teaching English as a Second Language by December of 2006. With a
passion for teaching beginners (both English language learners and
swing dancers), she has taught the 30 minute East coast swing class
with her husband (when time permits), Lindy Hop I and II, as well as the
occasional workshop for Focus on the Lindy.
In her spare time, she also enjoys writing, kissing (her husband), hiking, yoga,
eating sushi, making fun of her greyhound dog, and learning other languages.
